I had a conversation last month with the director of a mid-sized company in the Netherlands. 60 employees, manufacturer of industrial valve seals. He was nervous about Russian state hackers. Specifically Russian state hackers. Not all state hackers — only the Russian ones. He asked whether I could tell him if his organisation was resilient enough against Fancy Bear, Cozy Bear or the other names he had read in a trade journal.
I said no.
He looked as if I had hit his dog.
